At SOSF the oceans are at the centre of everything we do; they are our office, library and laboratory. However, we’ve always been aware that for many, the underwater world continues to be unseen and alien, and while this remains the case the struggle to convince people of the immediacy of the threats facing our oceans will continue.
Central to SOSF’s philosophy is to therefore take that sense of the unknown and transform it through research, writing and film into wonder, appreciation and action. With the passion of the SOSF team and those we support driving us, we aim to take millions of people under the surface of our seas, highlighting the challenges and exploring the solutions.
As well as undertaking its own projects, SoSF provides grants in support of public awareness activities that are likely to have a significant impact in helping us protect the global marine environment.
