The Save Our Seas Foundation was invited by the Merlin Entertainments Group to give a talk at the Sea Life London Aquarium as part of an evening they were hosting for the PA Club – a prestigious and influential network of personal assistants to London’s executives. This provided the perfect opportunity to further emphasise the importance of marine conservation and what we as individuals can do to help.
Personally, I am enthralled with the mystery and unrivalled beauty of the marine realm and believe that future generations should also have the privilege of experiencing its natural wonders for themselves.
However, putting aside a moral sense of stewardship, there are formidable socio-economic reasons to promote marine conservation and prevent overexploitation of marine resources.

The guide which has been described by leading shark scientists as an “…..exceptionally well-produced book, written by the leading authorities on shark systematics and conservation” and “…a must buy for anyone interested in identifying sharks”, was written by SOSF’s Dr Leonard Compagno and the IUCN’s Shark Specialist Group’s Sarah Fowler, with stunning illustrations by Marc Dando.

Lesley Rochat, executive manager and director of education and awareness of the Save Our Seas Shark Centre, along with Clem Sunter, former CEO of the biggest gold mine company in the world, Anglo American, and now well known author of the best seller, Mind of a Fox, and a leader in the field of scenario planning, recently addressed a mixed audience of over 200 business people and matriculates in Cape Town, South Africa.

It has been announced that SOSF’s Rethink the Shark has won the Best Advertising/PSA/Promo award in the Best of Category Awards ahead of this year’s International Wildlife Film Festival, the world’s longest running wildlife film festival which takes place in Missoula, Montana next month. Riddle in a Bottle, produced by the SOSF supported Sisbro Studios, was also awarded Best Children’s Program, along with a Merit Award for Script.
Rethink the Shark had previously won a presitious Panda award at the Wildscreen Film Festival while Riddle in a Bottle recently picked up Best Children’s Film at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival.
