Dan Beecham
Cameraman, SOSF
Dan is a high definition underwater cinematographer with the Save Our Seas Foundation.
Originally from Didcot in Oxfordshire, Dan had his first experiences on scuba at the age of twelve; even since those early days he always had a camera with him. After college, Dan spent two years traveling and teaching diving, when it became apparent that underwater photography and filming was the direction he wanted his life to go in.
Dan was given his big break into the industry by SOSF three years ago; initially employed as a still photographer, the focus of his work quickly shifted to high-definition cinematography. He was lucky enough to gain valuable experience in the filed by assisting cinematographer and SOSF advisory committee member, Tom Campbell, on numerous shoots around the globe.
In three busy years, Dan’s assignments with SOSF have taken him to over a dozen countries, documenting the underwater realm as well as filming the research and awareness initiatives SOSF sponsors worldwide; from pioneering shark research in Fiji, Scotland, and Mexico, to educational road-shows for children in the UK.
Dan states, “I feel proud that through the work of SOSF I am helping to preserve the very marine environment that I have been lucky enough to experience from an early age. The health of our oceans is rapidly degrading and unless marine conservation becomes a global priority we are in danger of losing the ocean life forever.”
