There was once a beautiful little angelfish called Lara who lived in a coral reef far away and was loved by everyone, especially her mother. Her mother loved her so much that she made her a beautiful coloured cloak to wear.
One day, Lara’s mother called her and asked her to take some food to her ill grandmother, who lived in a coral reef nearby. So little Lara set out on her journey, wearing her beautiful coloured cloak. As she was swimming, a naughty shark came by.
“Hello little Lara” said the shark “Where are you going on this nice day”
“I am going to visit my grandmother who is ill and needs some food!” she replied.
“Well” said the shark “don’t you think it would be a good idea to take some sea flowers to your grandmother”
Lara thought about what the shark said and how her grandmother would love the flowers. So she wandered into the ocean looking for flowers and the shark rushed to the grandmother’s house. He knocked on the door and the grandmother replied “I am too ill, please open the door and come in”. So the shark opened the door and went in to the coral house. Quickly, he swallowed the grandmother before she had time to swim away. He then lay on her bed and covered himself with seaweed.
Lara, who had taken her time to find some beautiful sea flowers, arrived at her grandmother's house in the nearby coral reef and she swam in. Lara noticed that there was something strange about the way her grandmother looked and asked: “Why are your eyes so big?”
The shark, pretending to be the grandmother, replied: “All the better that I can see you with my dear”
So Lara said: “And why is your nose so big?”
The shark replied: “All the better to smell these beautiful flowers with my dear”
Lara asked: “And why are your teeth so big?”
And the shark replied as he leapt out of the bed “All the better to eat you with….” And before she could swim away, the shark swallowed Lara as well. Feeling so full and lazy, the shark went back to bed, to have a nap.
Having heard the noise in the house, a passing Octopus came into the house to find the shark, with a very big tummy, sleeping soundly. Being so clever, the Octopus knew what the shark had done and he opened the shark’s mouth so wide that Lara and her grandmother popped out. They thanked the Octopus so much for saving them.
To teach the shark a lesson, the Octopus then filled the shark’s stomach with rocks and closed his mouth. When the shark woke up, he was so heavy that he became the slowest swimmer in the ocean and was no longer able to catch a lot of fish like he used to.
In the meantime, Lara was so happy but learned that she should never listen to strangers and wonder into the ocean and that she should always do as her mother tells her. Lara then lived happily ever after.
