Once upon a time, there was a fish called Mimo that lived with his friends and neighbours in a beautiful coral reef. Mimo had a job and that was to look out for sharks coming near the reef. If he saw a shark, Mimo would have to tell the Octopus, who lived nearby and then the Octopus would come out and scare the shark away from Mimo and the other fish.
Mimo liked to play a lot but was also very naughty. He was naughty because everyday, he would call out “SHARK…. SHARK!” The Octopus would then rush out to scare the shark, only to find that there was no shark and that Mimo was joking.
The Octopus did not find this funny and the more Mimo called “SHARK” the more he got upset with him because every time, the Octopus would have to stop his work and rush to help the little fish.
One day, whilst Mimo was swimming around, he saw a real Shark swimming towards him. Scared, he rushed around everywhere, shouting "Shark", "Shark", so many times but the Octopus did not come out. He did not come out because he no longer believed Mimo.
With the Octopus nowhere to be seen, the shark came close and started chasing Mimo, who swam so fast that his little heart was beating fast. Finally, he managed to hide in the corals and the shark, having tried so hard to get him, swam away. Mimo was very relieved but learned a very important lesson. He knew then that you should never lie because if you do, people will no longer believe you again, even if you are telling the truth!.
